INCOMING 6TH GRADE CUSD STUDENTS
If you live within Newhart's boundaries and your student attends any of the following elementary schools:
Bathgate
Bergeson
Castille
Reilly
Viejo Elementary
you will not need to enroll as a
"New Student" at Newhart.
 
INTERDISTRICT TRANSFER
The Inter-District Transfer process applies to those parents who wish their children to attend school in a district other than their district of residence.
All Inter-District Transfer requests must be initiated in the district of residence.
 
Inter-District Transfers are valid for one school year only and must be renewed annually.
 
An approved Inter-District Transfer must be in effect between the district of residence and the school district of desired attendance before a student can attend the desired school. For more information please visit the CUSD Interdistrict Transfer Request Site

STEP ONE: To enroll your student please click the "Online Student Enrollment" button below and complete the CUSD On-line Student Enrollment
STEP TWO: After submitting the online registration form, please gather all the required documents to bring to a scheduled meeting time with the registrar. Click the "New Student Required Documents" button below to view the list of required documents.

If you do not reside within Newhart Middle School's boundries see the information below about School of Choice (SOC).  Capistrano Unified School District's SOC program offers parents within the CUSD boundaries the opportunity to apply for another CUSD school that they would like their child to attend. To verify if your address is within CUSD boundaries or to find your home school, please use the School Locator tool here.

SOC is not approved on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications are reviewed after the window closes. Students approved for School of Choice are not eligible for District bussing. Transportation to any school other than the home school is the responsibility of the parents.

After your student has completed enrollment, create and login to your Parent Portal account. The Parent Portal is used for:
  • Annual online summer re-registration
  • Emergency contact information that can be updated at any time
  • Real-time period-by-period attendance data
  • Medical Information 
  • The following can be viewed and printed at any time: 
Report cards and unofficial transcripts
Test scores including college test scores
Class schedule
Graduation status reports
