The elective form is now CLOSED for incoming 8th grade 2024-2025 students.

Zero Period for All Students: 
  • Zero period is intended for students with an impacted schedule. Some students with an impacted schedule are in programs such as: 
  • Special Education
  • English Language Development 
  • Math and English Support 
  • Dual immersion 
  • Zero period is a request, but not guaranteed
  • Transportation is not available.
  • Zero Period Contract is required
 
Electives Requiring Application If you are interested in an elective requiring an application such as ASB, PAL, Office Aide, AVID, or  STEPS Student Aide, you will need to complete the elective choice Google form plus an additional application. Students selected for these electives will be notified in April. Application is located on the google form.
 
Mandarin & Spanish Immersion & AVID students: Your language or AVID class is your 1st choice elective and will be placed on your schedule.  If you are interested in taking a 2nd elective, you will need to take a zero period class. Zero period is not guaranteed and transportation is not provided. Please mark zero period and select your elective choice(s). If you are not interested in taking a 2nd elective, please only select the "I am a MIP,TWIS or AVID student."

Summer school sign up will be available on Monday, February 12th- May 23rd  for current 8th grade students. Please carefully review the details below and sign up using the links provided. 
CUSD Summer School Information for Rising 9th Graders (current 8th)
Summer school will be offered online via APEX.
  • Summer school will take place from June 12-July 17, no school 6/19 and 7/4
  • Students can receive live in person assistance during summer school operation days and hours of Monday- Thursday from 8:30AM-1:30PM. 
  • Students are required to take all tests in person during summer school operation days and hours of Monday- Thursday from 8:30AM-1:30PM. 
  • All summer school in person assistance and tests will take place on CVHS campus, regardless of the high school your child will be attending in the Fall.
  • Courses offered will be Health or Geometry. Students may only take Health or Geometry, not both.
    • Please note that Geometry is a yearlong course taught in 5 weeks. 
    • Geometry will be taken online, but teachers will be available in person to support. Tests must be taken in person.
  • Request for Summer school is due by May 23rd  at 12PM.
FAQ
What should I expect from Summer school?
 
There are only three mandatory summer requirements:
  • Students can complete the majority of work online, but all students are required to take exams in person. Teachers are available during all school hours. Come any time, any day: Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-1:30pm at CVHS, teachers will be ready for students.
  • All work must be completed no later than noon on July 17, 2024.
  • Complete and submit the mandatory Orientation assignment online no later than June 30. Students that do not submit the Orientation assignment by June 30 will be dropped from the class.
