CUSD SUMMER SCHOOL 2026

CUSD is now accepting summer school enrollment requests for incoming high school students. Sign ups are available now until May 29, 2026.  Please review the information below and follow the steps to sign your student up.
 
Courses Offered:
  • Health (5 Credits)
  • Geometry (10 Credits)
      • Please note that Geometry is a yearlong course taught in 5 weeks.
  • Students may only take Health or Geometry, not both. 
  • Both courses are to be taken online. 
    • Geometry will be taken online, but teachers will be available in person to support.  All tests must be taken in person.
    • Health is 100% online, tests included. 
 
General Summer School Information:
  • Dates: June 15 through July 15 (ending at 1:00 pm)
    • Students must complete at least 1 assignment by 1:00 pm on July 1, failure to do so will result in being dropped from the course. 
  • In-person support is available Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
    • Location: Capistrano Valley High School, Mission Viejo
 
How to Enroll:
  • Click the link below to begin the K–12 enrollment form (complete and submit the form in full).
  • Please only complete the form once.
  • Once your student’s request is reviewed and approved, you will receive a confirmation email.
 
 
Please make sure your student meets the eligibility requirements for the course selected, as outlined in the referral form.If you have any questions, please contact your student’s middle school counselor.

All About 8th Grade Electives

The Elective Selection for the next school year begins each year in early Spring. To view the options that may be available, click on the "Elective Description" link.
 
All 8th grade electives are year-long. Some, such as leadership, Yearbook, Student Aide, for example, will require an application. More information is below. Please contact your school counselor with any questions.
 
Zero Period for All Students: 
  • Zero period is intended for students with an impacted schedule. Some students with an impacted schedule are in programs such as: 
  • Special Education
  • English Language Development 
  • Math and English Support 
  • Dual immersion 
  • Zero period is a request, but not guaranteed
  • Transportation is not available.
  • Zero Period Contract is required
 
Electives Requiring Application If you are interested in an elective requiring an application such as ASB, PAL, Yearbook, Office Aide, AVID, STEPS Student Aide, or Tech Aide you will need to complete the
FNMS Selective Elective Form. 
 
 
Mandarin & Spanish Immersion & AVID students: Your language or AVID class is your 1st choice elective and will be placed on your schedule.  If you are interested in taking a 2nd elective, you will need to take a zero period class. Zero period is not guaranteed and transportation is not provided. Please mark zero period and select your elective choice(s). If you are not interested in taking a 2nd elective, please only select the "I am a MIP,TWIS or AVID student."
